Good infrastructure and facilities are one of the top educational requirements, and it is necessary to maintain safe and high-quality campus facilities from the perspective of maintaining and improving educational levels. A good college has to have a campus environment that is safe and comfortable, with well-maintained buildings and grounds.

USTM follows guidelines and compiles examples to help in the maintenance of College facilities. USTM additionally promotes the improvement of College facilities with minimal environmental load as a measure to combat the universal challenge of global warming.

USTM also provides high speed WI-FI connectivity in the college campus with state of art Classrooms & Tutorial rooms equipped with modern teaching learning aids to facilitate Technology enabled Learning. Computerized Central Library facility & Book Bank are also available with an estimated volume growth of up to 50,000 books, journals & periodicals.

Our Computer Centre is equipped with 200 plus high end computing devices backed up with academic alliance from Microsoft, Oracle etc.; proposed to be expanded to networked environment housing 1000 plus terminals. It is one of the best in colleges in India.

We have highly experienced faculty with excellent knowledge about academics research which helps the students to stay up to dated.

Interactions with industries, National Laboratories, Universities, IITs, NITs, Institute of national importance and corporate sectors also helps students to grow in their career. Various seminars and lectures are organized in the college campus as well as outside the campus to develop their s personality. USTM is also planning to conduct national and international seminars and conference every year.

The University of Science and Technology, Meghalaya regularly organizes various workshops and seminars on issues relevant to their fields of study and also to our times which helps the students to become more relevant towards their studies. USTM is conducting seminars, workshops, national and international conferences and extension lectures to promote interdisciplinary research in basic sciences, humanities and other disciplines.

USTM is one of the few private universities in India to offer PHD programmes. Scholars seeking to pursue a doctorate degree will find a variety of specializations to choose from and qualified researchers to guide them at USTM.

We have our own in-house publication cell with high quality printing of magazines and booklets etc. It has a conference hall with modern state of art communication facilities. Dedicated medical and health care centres are also situated in the campus with highly educated doctors and nurses for the safety of the health of the students.

USTM : The Leading Science & Technology University of Northeast India

The Northeast India comprising eight States has a high literacy level and is rich in ethnic cultural heritage with linguistic diversity.

However, the region lacked infrastructure facilities in educational institutions across different sectors and there was a need to improve the quality of education. To address this issue the Northeastern states have been provided grants under the Non Lapsable Central Pool of Resources (NLCPR) to improve their infrastructure facilities. The Empowered Committee administering NLCPR, since its inception in 1998-99, has approved proposals worth Rs.480.68 crore for the development of educational infrastructure in the region. Funds amounting to Rs.392.81 crore have also been released as on 30 November 2005. Out of this, Rs.14.84 crore was released in 2005-06.

In the last few decades the main push factor leading to migration of Northeast students was due to lack of educational infrastructure with limited choice of education as well as social harmony.

Northeast has long been neglected in terms of both economic and social development; however things are improving. Lack of educational opportunities has been the major drawbacks in earlier days. No specific attempts were made from the Union or the State governments to develop educational infrastructure in Northeast India.

Now, Northeast is growing as huge potential for upcoming universities and they are making their mark. With the introduction of many new colleges, Northeast has seen dramatic change in educational sector in recent years. Policymakers in northeast India are finally creating a framework and inviting private investors in higher education, filling a glaring shortage that forced students to migrate to other parts of the country.

USTM or the University of Science & Technology, Meghalaya has been one of the major private Universities of the entire North East region of India which was established in the year 2008 for empowering the needs of the students by providing quality educational facilities in the northeast region which was lacking earlier.
